Hi,
Background: E93 (2007) AT purchased in April 2016. Car was misrepresented with dodgy records. Though, it is a genuine AU delivery purchased new in 2008. Was pointless trying to sue the car-yard. So decided best to just fix, what needed fixing.
Famous last words :(
Wont go into all the trials and tribulations, but lets just say, to get it back to excellent running order, it wasn't cheap, given, all the work was done at an Indy garage.
I don't drive like a maniac, but I'm certainly more than spirited, when the opportunity is there.
Mods:
At the time, the turbo lines had a slight coolant leak, so had all four (4) replaced etc. Also did a walnut blast.
In winter months with approx 14C day temps, the oil temp, if driven hard (sports mode paddles), would reach 131C within a 2 - 3 minutes. That was from driving in Auto, where oil temp would barely pass 110C.
So moved onto adding more Mods, to try and get the oil temps down:
I'm awaiting on a wheel-well vent, which will provide air-flow thru the transmission cooler.
Guess it's a bit like having your home's front door open, but not the back door. Hence, the inside pressure prevents the breeze outside from flowing through the house.
As it stand now, the heat from the AT transmission cooler has no where to escape.
If that doesn't work, then I'm stumped as to what else I can do to lower the oil temp. I'd be happy with 120C, a little less would be awesome, but 120C is acceptable.
Reiterating, driving in Auto mode (even in harsh AU 40C+ summer temps) oil temp doesn't raise above 110C. Oil temps are only affected when, driving hard in sports-mode with paddles.
Even tried Redline water wetter and distilled water. As you probably tell, I'm running out of ideas.
While I await the wheel-well vent, has anyone got any thoughts on other methods to cool the engine oil temps?
All help appreciated.

So moved onto adding more Mods, to try and get the oil temps down:
- BMS: sport oil cooler value (aside from increasing the time frame it took to reach 131C, the value didn't drop the temp).
- OEM (110C) thermostat, change out for 90C racing thermostat (took longer for engine to warm up)
- Evolution Racewerks: (1) competition oil cooler, with ducted shroud. (negligible drop)
- BMS: AT transmission cooler (this definitely made a difference - though, if pushed hard in sports-mode (paddles) for 15 min or so, oil temps will reach 130C).
