How to tell how many VINs left on BT cable

I tried looking it up on the manual and through google but to no avail.


I just purchased a BT cable from a person online and he said he wasn't sure how many VINs were left on the cable, if any (I was fine with that).
upon plugging it into the car and booting the program, it does not ask for VIN input. Instead it just detected the DME model, and it gave me a drop down list of various cars to select from. I just selected bmw 3-series e9x (2006-2009), even though my car is a 2010. And from there it just jumped straight to the diagnostics page. No more input asked. I looked at the instructions and they showed several more selection boxes and pop ups that I didn't get. Does that mean something?

Is there anyway for me to check how many VINs I have left on the cable?



Also, this might be a stupid question, but can I use different laptops with my car? I used my dad's laptop to test the cable, but plan to use my own laptop once I get it back. Would there be any problems with connecting the BT cable with my laptop even though it has already "connected" with my dad's?
