Can't a chip be physically read from the TCU to get the encryption key?

I was reading that F series DMEs need a chip read by connecting a reader directly to a chip on the board. Once the encryption key is retrieved, the DME can be flashed via OBDII.

Is it likely that the TCU in our E90 is the same? When the TCU's firmware starts up, it would have to get a decryption key from somewhere to decrypt the ROM wouldn't it?

After trying a few transmission flashes, they all have flaws that others don't. It would be so good to get some unencrypted transmission BINs and start working on defining tables! Just imagine the gear changes with maxed line pressure and fastest possible shift time entered
